Girvan Group offers a cadetship program which aims to assist students throughout their university studies, allowing them to gain experience in both Construction and Fitout within the commercial sector of the building industry. Our cadetship is based on a two or three-year rotational program, enabling students to gain experience within the commercial building industry in roles including estimating and contracts administration, as well as, practical onsite involvement.
We conduct interviews in the last quarter of each year with an aim for new cadets to commence work in the first few months of the following year. Our candidates would ideally be studying Construction Management at university, and be in their first or second year. Generally, when in the office, the cadet will be required to work four days per week during the university semester, and five days per week when on semester break. When working onsite, the cadet will also be required to work Saturdays as necessary. The projects will vary in size and value.
Our cadets will initially be offered a fixed two or three-year contract with the opportunity of ongoing employment following a review of their performance at the completion of their cadetship.
To apply for a cadetship opportunity, each student is required to send their resume along with a cover letter indicating their degree being undertaken, what year of study they are currently in, and the University they are attending, as well as, a paragraph on why Girvan Group is of interest to them. They should also state their particular interests within the industry, and where they hope to eventually work at the conclusion of their studies. Previous experience in the building industry is preferred although not a prerequisite. Energetic, self-motivated, practically minded and quick learners will excel in this opportunity!
