Girvan Gives Back: Refreshing John Brotchie Nursery School’s Outdoor Education Area
On Friday, 10 April 2026, Team Girvan rolled up their sleeves and gave back to the community in a truly meaningful way, dedicating half a day to refreshing the outdoor education area at John Brotchie Nursery School.
Armed with work boots and gloves, the team got stuck in weeding, sanding, painting, and varnishing. They replaced an ageing deck with a brand-new one, laid fresh pebbles, and topped up the sandpit with wheelbarrows of sand. To put the finishing touch on a fantastic day, Girvan gifted the students with a brand-new Jolly Roger flag for the much-loved pirate ship that sits at the heart of the outdoor sandpit area.
John Brotchie has been a cherished community preschool in Botany for over 70 years. Committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching learning environment, the preschool’s play-based curriculum is thoughtfully designed to be intentional, engaging, challenging, and meaningful, supporting each child’s individual growth and learning journey.
Principal Rebecca Andrews shared her heartfelt appreciation for the team’s efforts:
“Our educators and students love being outdoors, we love being in nature. The sandpit area you so kindly volunteered your time to work in today is one of our most loved spaces. Sand is so much fun for preschool-aged children. Add a little water and you have hours of entertainment!”
Girvan’s Managing Director, Sam Awad echoed the sentiment, thanking Rebecca for the opportunity to give back and reflecting on what made the day so special. For Sam and the whole Girvan team, the most rewarding outcome will be seeing the smiles on students’ faces when they return from the school break to discover their refreshed play area.
At Girvan, creating meaningful change in the communities we work in isn’t just a once-off gesture, it’s part of who we are.
