UNSW Goldstein Kitchen Upgrade
UNSW engaged Girvan to deliver a multi-scope refurbishment across two buildings within their Kensington Campus in Sydney. Working from a design by Burtenshaw Scoufis Architecture, Girvan constructed a new cool room and freezer within the D17 Basser College carpark (Stage 1). In partnership with ADP and Mack Group, the team then undertook a full servery refresh (Stage 2) in D16 Goldstein College Kitchen, delivering a new servery counter, flooring, and a range of new serving units. Back-of-house works included re-sealing the kitchen floor and installing new condenser units and flooring to the existing cool rooms and freezer.
Delivering construction within a live education environment requires more than technical skill, it demands foresight and a genuine regard for the people the space serves. Girvan implemented a range of targeted strategies to minimise disruption to teaching and learning, ensuring the campus continued to function smoothly throughout the project. With multiple stakeholders involved across design, construction, and facility management, the project team prioritised transparent and consistent communication with the client’s project manager, ensuring issues were resolved promptly and progress remained steady at every stage.
Girvan delivered a fully upgraded food service facility that meets UNSW’s operational standards on a live campus, across multiple buildings, and in close collaboration with a diverse team of stakeholders. The project demonstrates Girvan’s ability to manage complex, multi-building refurbishments while maintaining quality, safety, and strong client relationships.
