Girvan delivered this state-of-the-art gym for Virgin Active located on Level 1 of Westfield Bondi Junction. This luxury facility features a spacious open gym floor, a reformer studio, and comprehensive wellness zones that include a spa, a cold plunge, and both infrared and traditional saunas. In addition, the gym offers various amenities, including co-working spaces, a lounge, and a fully equipped commercial kitchen and café.
Executing this project in one of Australia’s busiest Westfield centres posed unique challenges. The construction team built the pool and saunas within an existing tenancy, with limited site access, while ensuring a high-quality design. They remediated the slab for a flat gym floor and installed heating and cooling systems for optimal functionality.
A value engineering exercise helped meet budget and timeline constraints without compromising luxury. A building management system (BMS) was implemented to monitor energy use and enhance efficiency, with coordination ensuring public access on handover.
